Carrington Carr - single payment PPI

Hi all,

I'm hoping that someone can answer a few questions for me.

I'm looking into reclaiming 2 PPi's both sold to my OH and myself from Carrington Carr, the first in 2002 and the second in 2004.
Both were before the FOS came into force, but it does state on the certificate of insurance (D&D Homecare) that they were members of GISC.

1. Can I claim or Does it have to come from my Husband? It is a joint mortgage (to which the PPI's were added) but the policy was for him only.

2. Do I need the policy number? I have the amount paid on a letter from the solicitors, and a certificate of insurance.

I'm sure I have more questions, but I've only just realised that I should claim (we had the renewal letter in the post today, I actually thought that it ran until the mortgage ended ).

Any help is most gratefully recieved!

Zoe

You should be okay then, the Financial ombudsman service are able to investigate complaints if covered by FSA or GISC in relation to these complaints - if the business do not resolve in your favour by the final decision.

    1. Can I claim or Does it have to come from my Husband? It is a joint mortgage (to which the PPI's were added) but the policy was for him only.
I am aware if jointly - then any complaints have to be signed by both, this have been the case for me and my hubby, unless someone else can clarify on this.
For the policy to only protect the named on - in my opinion is a reclaim in itself, as the other account holder would be still be responsible for the loan itself etc.

    2. Do I need the policy number? I have the amount paid on a letter from the solicitors, and a certificate of insurance.
It would be useful to have the loan account number, that would count for the insurance number, if you do not have this, check any old bank statements from an account where you made the monthly repayments, or if you do online banking with the same bank where the money was coming out from, this should allow you to go back 7 or maybe 8 years with some accounts.

I'm sure I have more questions, but I've only just realised that I should claim (we had the renewal letter in the post today, I actually thought that it ran until the mortgage ended ).

Thank you Di, for your prompt reply.

We have the loan account number (we actually have a breakdown of the mortgage which lists the cost of the PPI from the solicitor)

I'm currently filling in forms for the FOS. Interestingly the second insurance cert mentions the FOS even tough it was taken out in Sept 2004, before the FOS was supposed to have existed. :D
