Do you have indoor markets near you, as they have lots of different cards at reasonable prices? Poundland is another fab place, and Tesco do some great cards, and even M&S do good cards at 3 for 2!

Good luck finding ones you like,

Studio cards here too, me, my Mum and my sister combine our order to share the p+p and are going to divide the huge tin of roses you get free with each order. Even better is when I requested my catalogue I got some free cards with it too! :D

  • hello,
I've not posted in a few months due to PC problems - but i'm fixed up now.

Try factory outlet stores. I do work for a large card manufacturer but i'm obviously not going to say which one, but you can get big discounts in factory shops - usually they are in the out of town retail villages - and the other obvious one is to buy after the event - when shops want rid of the stock.

while i'm on the subject though it is the supermarkets etc that take a massive cut of the profits when you buy a card from them - the company that makes them gets lots less.

but the best way is to make your own :)

    Cheers

  • I got fed up with sending cards to people at work who I saw practically every day a couple of years ago. I pinned up a notice saying no-one was getting a card but I was making a donation to an animal charity (I work at a vets) and if anyone wanted to join me I'd collect and send the donations.
I was stunned to find that no-one sent any cards and everyone donated :j so I started a new tradition and we decide between us where the money is going. People can donate as little or as much as they want - no-one knows what anyone else has put in as I just leave an envelope out for the donations.

Perhaps this may be an option for anyone who has the problem at work.

  • I've solved my own problem!!:j

Mencap catalogue arrived today and they do a Bumper Bargain pack of 80 cards for £6.99 (8.7p each!). Might not be the ABSOLUTE cheapest out there, but still a huge saving on what I normally spend and I get to support my favourite charity at the same time! :T

Now who do I send the nasty robin on top of a postbox one to?

I went to a place called the Card Shop last week and bought 40 christmas cards for a pound. Not cheep looking either. 4 different prints in the box of snowman, santa, teddy and raindeer with a bit of glitter on them. I'm well pleased.

Last year I waited til the last minute and didn't like the ones I bought or the price I paid for them.
  • I noticed our local Superdrug were selling off last years stock cheaply when I was in there last week.

If you are feeling crafty you could make your own. I notice a lot of the poundshops are stocking Christmas Cards kits which make 6 cards. I've seen these kits for as little as 99p.

Alternatively you could create your own designs using salvage. A little tip I picked up the other day is to slash open a toothpaste tube, wash and then cut out shapes such as stars from it, mount inside showing to get a great silver foil effect. Snipped pictures from Christmas Catalogues, bits of ribbon or last years cards creatively used are great resources too. Xmas gift wrap is a cheaper alternative to those fancy backing papers the craft suppliers sell. I forrage along the beach for small bits of drift and shells to use for what I call my Urban Ethnic look. lol Acorn shells and the like would also be good
