Had a rental booked for today at 12 noon, turned up half an hour early as they close at 12. Took ages to be served as they were a little slow!
Everything was fine until my card for the deposit was declined, now i know i have enough in my account as i double checked online before i went. I had over £600 available in my account and the transaction was only for £160 so should have been fine. They tried again and again it was declined. So i rang my bank and they said there was no problem their end, i had plenty of money so they were not declining it.
Nice young guy said they would do a pre auth for it and put it through properly on monday which i said was fine. Then his manager said they were not allowed to do that, said they couldnt try my card again as their system wouldnt allow it. Coincidentally the couple beside me were having the same issue, though manager said it wasn't a problem with their system.
In the end i don't get my car:mad:
I would never use them again, they are a shambles.
2 guys in the queue behind me had been promised lifts to pick up their cars from the garage as they were obviously being repaired and they had hired cars in the meantime. Manager said they wouldn't be getting them now and they should not have been told they would get them!
Other girl in the queue told me she had waited 6 hours at Glasgow for her hire car:eek: No one seemed very impressed by the service provided.

must depend on the branch. I have used in the Midlands frequently and they have been fine + very reliable, and the collect service is fab.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
We had a problem with Enterprise when we pre-booked a van to take stuff 150 miles up to our flat, at a special offer rate of £44 a day. The morning we were booked to collect it after mid-day they phoned to say it was not available due to a breakdown, and all they could offer us was one from another van hire firm, who charged £70 a day. It felt like a bit of a set-up as there were plenty of vans standing around when we had gone to make the booking so they obviously had more than just a couple, and they certainly weren't all hired out on that occasion.
Tried to get them to honour the agreed price but they weren't having any. We had to take the dearer one as we had no alternative. We also had to drive 10 miles out of town to collect and return it, instead of collecting locally from Enterprise, and all they would offer us was a lift to the nearest bus stop.
Wouldn't bother with them again. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I've used enterprise in Wigan about 5 times now, no problems, very helpful.
Have had 3 upgrades f.o.c and the other times got very nice cars as promised.
It must be branch specific as I couldn't compliment them enough.
Whereas Avis in Dublin Airport & Irishcarrentals @ Dublin Airport were shocking, terrible cars with defects, no apologies or anything.
Luck of the draw I think with car rental companies.
Cheers

Seeing as Enterprie are a franchise company it all depends on the branch and staff what level of service you will receive !
In our area we have 2 , 30 miles apart , 1 is excellent, family run garage/petrol/car-van hire , nothing but praise from locals and myself !
2 is rubbish , staff run and just car/van hire to cope with , well known locally for bad service !
Guess which one we use ?A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
