Money owed to us :(

Hi

We have a customer who has rented out 2 games from us and not returned them despite various phone calls and letters. As per our T&C we have tried to charge their debit card, but it has been rejected.

Any idea on how we can go about reclaiming the money from them without incurring any extra costs. The amount we are owed is just over £130.00

Any help would be gratefully received.

Nothing comes for free in this world, but if you are succesful in your claim, any court costs will normally be added to the amount owed when using small claims.

Of course, getting judgement and actually seeing the dosh are two very different things, and as this person has borrowed your goods and failed to return them, appears to have a dodgy debit card (or at least cancelled it), then I suspect it may be better wiping off the amount unless you feel certain the customer will pay you back.

Perhaps investigate better referencing of customers prior to allowing them to walk off with your goods, or even ensure they leave a cleared, returnable security deposit to the value of the goods prior to them leaving with them

What is the actual price that you paid for the games?

If their debit card is blocked it sounds like either a fraudulent transaction or they have no money in their account. Sadly you might need to write it off.

Go to their house, knock on their door when it opens say
"I WANT MY GAMES AND MONEY BACK NOW! WHY HAVENT YOU COME TO THE SHOP? NOW THATS JUST LAZY!"
That ought to reason with them

charge their card at the end of the month, if they actually work then thats when i would asume they get paid

Have you checked the expiry date of the card details? Maybe it expired?
