Global Insurance Management: anyone know them?

My wife bought a used car 11 months ago and, with it, was given a "free" Mechanical Breakdown Insurance Policy. It is underwritten by Axa and the claims management is done by Global Insurance Management - apparently a subsidiary of Axa. She has found it necessary to make a claim and, predictably, Global sent her a declination letter. The claim is in excess of £800. Even the repairer disagrees with their decision and the repairer is one of Global's panel of approved repairers.
So now the fun begins. The scent of Moneyclaim is in the air. But I'll give Axa the chance to make good after I have properly prepared my offense.

This seems to becoming more and more common place, claims being refused out of hand to see wether the client will simply go away, especially when it comes to schemes being run as cheap as possible.
What reason did they give ?0 -

It's somewhat complicated. Basically, wife noticed diesel spilling from beneath the car after she had filled up. Took car to a repair facility and eventually it was determined that the problem was with a vent valve on top of the tank whih had stuck in the "open" position. In essence, the valve failed.
Global has based it's rejection of the claim on one of the policy exclusions: "Fuel system - fuel leakage, failure of piping and seals."
1. It wasn't a seal - it was a valve. Valves and seals have quite different functions.
2. The "leakage" was proximately caused by the failure of the component valve.
What may be causing Global some problems is the fact that the valve is a moulded=in component of the fuel tank which means that the whole tank has to be replaced!42 years of experience in the insurance industry.
