Recommendations for boiler supplier

My house has a conventional gas boiler on its last legs. In three days, we've had four emergency plumbers and Transco out to sort it.

I suppose it's time to accept defeat and acknowledge that a new boiler is needed. It would be nice to have a combi boiler this time, and the emergency plumber (Who has very honestly admitted his company would overcharge) reckons you can get a boiler unit for £500, and fitting for a little more than that. The question is, where can I buy a combi boiler? Suggestions and/or stories, please :)

I really got stuck into this boiler business when I realised ours just had to go. You can get details of all the different types on Plumb World (might be one word). Ideal seem to have a large part of the market and bought out some of the other well known names. Also, individual companies will send you their brochures e.g. Gloworm which you can get to on line. Our original one was a Gloworm and we had it over thirty years. In the end, with us, it turned out we were entitled to a visit from Warmfront. Long story but Transco condemned our boiler and we got a free one plus radiators, water tank etc.
Most important, there are new rules about boilers that are fitted from April I think it was, this year. Its all about emissions etc so we had to have a condensing one. There are some exceptions to the rule so look up the regulations too. Trouble is, these boilers will not last as long as the old ones did. The people who did the work were called Iguana and I must say their engineer was first rate. Took almost a week to do the job.
