Barclaycard Upped The Interest Rate!
Comments
-
OK, I just called Barclaycard's Customer Services. The guy I spoke to admitted they hadn't sent me a letter about the increase in rate rises then added it would have been sent along with May's statement.
Now, me being a bit anal or "OCD"ish, I'm not the best at throwing things out, I have 5 Barclays envelopes in front of me and they are all empty of correspondence!
I told the guy I had the right to refuse to accept the new interest rate and his response was "I'll just check that out" and he cut me off!
I've tried to send a message through their secure messaging on their site and it's still not working!
How irritating is that!?
I think I'll try calling them again - at least it's a freephone number. I'll keep you informed.

Called Customer Services again and this time the guy I spoke to advised that a letter had been sent out dated 28th May so one of them was lying!
This guy was more helpful and seemed to realise that I had the right to refuse the interest rate and that I knew the concequences of doing this.
Therefore, the original SVR rate has been reinstated and the account has been closed.
And peace in the world of Poo is restored........ until I receive adverse information!
Thanks for your replies guys and sorry I wasn't clearer in the first place!

Just wanted to say a big well done for getting the APR put back.
Similiar thing happened with my mother and her RBS cards; she hadn't noticed the teeny weeny notice on the statement so a little bluff and temper tantrum later they actually ended up reducing the APR below what it was originally!
So it is possible :beer:Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
