PN, please don't take this the wrong way but wiperblades as a cost? They last forever.
Maybe you need to lower your sights a bit, start going for jobs you know you can get. Once ensconced either look at getting promoted fast (and it isn't that difficult if you play your cards right) or use the job as a vehicle to better things.
Alternatively think about what you really want.
Most of us have [STRIKE]fairly[/STRIKE] really boring jobs that keep body and soul together. You turn up, do a lot of unnecessary stuff and go home.
They don't pay particularly well but they allow you to get on with the business of living.
Which is what it is all about reallyRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
I wasn't really talking directly about my life, but of past experiences - and for another viewpoint.PN, please don't take this the wrong way but wiperblades as a cost? They last forever.

I don't know why I chucked wiper blades in, just part of a random thing. I think I got through two in 50,000 miles on my last car.
Go for jobs one knows one can get - not sure how that works, don't we all think we can get every job we apply for?
Promotion - never known it, only ever worked in small companies where there is no promotion. As for then looking for something else, it's pretty tricky to do that once you're in a job as you've only got 20 days' annual leave and can't always choose when you can take it, or at short notice. Making interviews often impossible... you either take the time/slot they offer, or you miss out.
So, I wasn't posting about 'me' specifically, just pointing out that the OP's experience of jobs/job-hunting isn't what everybody experiences.
I only apply for jobs I am qualified/experienced at, so about 1 a month. And don't get interviews.
I don't need a job, I'd just like one. But there's no point applying for "things I think I could do", because I'd not hear from them either. Also, feeling that maybe ageism's kicking me a bit (on the quiet). The great thing you think doesn't exist, until you're that age - and suddenly ... the phone stops ringing.0
