Do any of your kids wear "pyjama pants" and how old are they?

My DD has recently turned 7 and wears them coz she still wets quite often - she wants to go to a Beaver Scout camp but I don't know how to tackle it?
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

my DS is 8 and still wears them, tho he has dysphraxia and aspergers, he cant go to sleepovers at all as he is too embaressed.
have you spoken to the doctor?0 -
I've been very lucky with my 2 who were both dry very early, but DS has a friend who comes for sleepovers who is 7 and still uses the PJ pants, his mum discretely leaves it with me, then when its time to change into their PJ's. I send them up one at a time and leave it under a towel in the bathroom for him.
Could the something similar be done with the camp leader?:hello:0 -
My daughter wore these when she went to Brownie camp. I was helping on the camp so we shared a room together and the other girls never knew that she wore them.LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

Moving forward and onward - don't want to stand still or go backwards!

my DD is 7 and still wets the bed I took her to the nurse and she advised me that her bladder has not developed enough. I would advise you to make an appoitment with the school nurse ours was ever so helpfull and explained everything to my DD in simple terms and then gave us things to do, it has got better but she still does wet occasionly, where as before it was every other night. The first thing she did advise us though was not to use pj pants. I must admit to being worried about what will happen when it comes to sleep overs. but hope that she cracks it before then. x:beer:0

I was pretty lucky with both my kids..and to be honest if I were you (maybe you have done)..I would go to the doctors with her because maybe there is something that can be done???? If it was my child I would be terrified the other kids would find out and I would make my excuses and not let her go..maybe you could say to her you had a camping trip for the family planned???...it takes ONE little brat to notice she has those pants on and for the teasing to start and that breaks my heart thinking someone doing that to my kids!
If she does want to go really badly then you should speak to the Leader and make sure no other kids can find out some how ... trust me some kids are down right evil!...
Can you go with her as a helper, probably need checks done but I would do that or not put her!
just my opinion though xxxYou may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -
My son is 8 and up until very recently still had little accidents at night. I managed to get him a hypnotherapy cd from the library called "i'm dry at night" by Lynda Hudson which he listens to before going to sleep and it has done wonders 3 weeks now with out an accident which was unheard of before. This last week he has gone without his pyjama pants and he is so proud of himself and i am too :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

We were told to inform the leader of anything like this when dd has been on brownie holidays so I imagine they will offer any support they can.
How bulky are they? Is there any pjs that would disguise them, or is there a thinner version you could get for camp (even if they cost a bomb)?
I would ask the leader as they're bound to have dealt with this before.
Or is there a scout leaders website you can register with? There is one for brownies and you can ask questions.
Saying that, I know 'gingham ribbon' is a Beaver leader and will offer advice if you contact her - I'm sure she won't mind me saying that!
Good on her for still wanting to go!0 -
I really think you are worrying too much & not many should need to know.
I'd tell the leader that she will be wearing one & discuss between you what will be best to do, even if they are in there pjs earlier in the night surely the leader can take her to the toilet last thing so she can put it on just before before they are getting in to the sleeping bags, obviously tell your DD what will be happening or if she doen't want an adult involved that way she cold just wriggle in to it/out of it in her sleeping bag.
It really shouldn't hold her back doing something she loves & wants to do she will only become frustrated at herself!.
I'm sure they have come across this times before and you are not the first!.0 -
when my eldest was 8 we went to the doctor and got tablet that he took at night and it stoped the bed wetting . i forgot what its called but it was brilliant and when he went to camp . we told the leader and they gave it to him no problem ..........0

Having run beaver & brownie camps, I know that your child won't be the only one - lots of under 8s still bed wet, and its still fairly common up to 12ish.
DS is 16 and still wets (due to night fits). We send him to camp with 3 sleeping bags and enough pads for the week. The leaders do a quick laundry run every 3rd day for us.
We have never had a problem with this, and although the other kids know they never say much and never tease. They have known him from Beavers so this helps.
It shouldn't stop her having fun, and she would miss much more if she avoided going because of a little wee! With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0
