I tend to stock up or get persuaded to buy alternatives that are on offer. I peruse "Mysupermarket.com" for offers.
My Favs...

(c) Nescafe Cafe Parisien Instant
(d) Kenco Rappor Instant

We drink Sainsbury's or Tesco's own ground coffee. It's nice enough, and brand name coffee is just too expensive for us.0

My favourite instant coffee is Douwe Egberts. The 200g jars are currently on offer at 2 for £7. I perfer to spend a bit extra on coffee as I'd prefer to drink something that I like rather that something that's only just passable, but that depends on how much money you have to spare.Mortgage-free wannabe 2026 £1130/40000

I would say Whittard is your best bet. Organic and fairtrade 500g - £9.60 (works out at £1.92/100g is medium roast), Santos and Java 500g £8 (£1.60/100g is strong roast) and loads more.
Okay so it's not overly cheap but it's really good coffee and you can even buy it in bean form and grind it yourself which makes it taste even better! We don't like instant anymore and to be honest I wouldn't pay for it as it tastes nasty. As it is proper coffee lasts us longer as you can get more mugs out of the same amount of proper coffee as instant - 2 spoons will only get you 2 mugs of coffee for instant but 2 spoons can get you 4 mugs of coffee for example.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

Ikea filtered coffee is lovely in the restaurant, I must buy a pack of what they use - they sell coffee in their shop.0

Home Bargains have a variety of douwe Egberts ground coffee @ 99p I'm an Approved Foods fan too, and we're currently using the stuff we bought from them - we've not frozen it, just open one packet at a time and it's fine. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

That Douwe Egberts ground coffee at Approved Foods is a seriously good bargain.
I was in Lidl yesterday and their Bellarom ground coffee which usually sells for (I think) £2.59 for 500 grammes is currently on offer at two packets for £3. Now that is cheap and it's very good as well. I stocked up and bought quite a few0
