Power Seller on ebay - good idea?

I have just had an invitation from ebay to become a bronze power seller?! :j

Reading the terms and conditions it seems as though you have to keep up the sales and the listings or they take it away from you.

Can anyone advise how worthwhile it is? Does it really make more people buy from you?

I specialise in the equestrian market where most people are pretty straightforward - I think they are currently buying from me based on my feedback and recommendations from their friend round the corner (judging by the post codes).

Have just had my first sell out auction for my product when they all went with four days left!:T

Would appreciate any input anyone has??

I've been a power seller for about 5 months now, and I don't think it has made any difference to my sales at all. I have found a slight increase though in people treating me like a shop..being quicker to ask for discounts or refunds or whatever. What I do like is the quick reporting of listings or problems, I once got an email response within 3 hours when I had a problem!

Power seller status is purely on sales and turnover, nothing to do with the volume of feedback or customer comments (although you must remain about 98% positive at all times). Basically it is turnover of £750 per month or 100 sales per month based on a 3 month average. If you start to fall below that you get a polite note to say you need to sell more, if you do fall below it then power seller status is removed.

  • I wonder if you can help me. How long after meeting the requirements for power seller status does it take for you to become one? I've now sold above the required minimum for July, August and September, and have done everything else necessary, so would it be at the end of this month that my seller status would change?

Also, does anyone happen to know that when you don't meet the minimum selling requirements, would your power seller status change at the end of the first month that you sell less than £750? Unfortunately I won't be able to sell next month, so if I do become a one it think it will be very short lived!
  • Just noticed a similar thread about this, maybe should have posted in there, whoops
