    For goodness sake!

Don't buy trashy stick on tiles or laminate.

    .

Actually those "trashy" tiles can be really nice in the bathroom, I had them in my last homes bathroom & the one before that.

They would if they had carpet over the top aswell :)

I hate carpets, all that crap you trample in on your feet, all your dead skin that gets trapped in the pile, you may aswell go live in your rubbish bin, itll be cleaner.

Yes, but you can get a decent Vac carpet washer and sort out your dead skin woes. FYI, dead skin is also in the air and you shed about ~50,000 cells per second so there's no getting away from the lovely stuff.

You appear to have missed the fact that the OP has no money!

I do not understand how it can be classed as safe for children crawling around on the bare floorboards

OP, without meaning to sound rude, if your children are 15 months and 3 years....why are they still crawling??

    Some children are late walkers.

True - my DD didn't walk until just before her 2nd birthday, and even then she crawled sometimes when she got tired.

I would suggest the OP try freecycle? I wanted some garden tools for a little part-time business Iam starting up, yet had no money to buy them. I put a request out on my local Freecycle board a few times and a lovely lady contacted me with some free tools!

Swallow your pride..nothing wrong with second hand or free even!

Our little'un is just starting to show signs of crawling (we're at the bouncing stage). We have a laminate floor, which is a bit hard when he falls sideways. We couldn't afford to put a fitted carpet into the lounge, so our solution was an offcut of carpet to cover the central area - cost £11 from a carpet warehouse.

Some of my neighbours bought their house with a £2500 discount from Bellway due to not wanting carpets fitted, the floors where just chipboard, over the next three months he bought laminate at B+Q, enough to do one room at a time, sometimes in life you have to put up with things until you can afford the better things, though personally I would do as others have suggested, knock down the exposed nails with a hammer and punch, then sand the floors and varnish or stain them.

I suppose it depends what your priorities are, obviously when you have applied the social thought you didn't need the help based on information you put on the form. How about doing some overtime at work?
