Quick question on bending a gas pipe

Yeh yeh yeh to work with gas you need a qualified ...
Now to the question, how safe is it to bend a gas pipe. Standard copper pipe, 15mm, contains gas!
More details - well since you asked. The pipe used to feed a gas fire. Gas fire has been removed (by the right type of bloke). Leaving a pipe filled with gas sticking up through the carpet and sealed off at the end.
I want to bend the pipe so that it safely rests below the floor boards.
Still more details - well I guess you probably want to know. The pipe measures about 50cm and 10cm is visible so I need to bend a pipe to at least 35 degrees (3,4, 5 triangle for anyone interested), although would seriously consider bending the pipe to 90 degrees.
Alternative is switching off the gas, cutting the pipe - and trying to reseal the end, lighting a cigarette to relax and the end and the misses claiming a lot of cash on the insurance:T
Any opinions greatly appriciated.

Do you propose to use proper pipe benders, or just a couple of weetabix and your knee?
You could just whack it with a hammer over a brick for the ultimate cheap DIY job. I suppose.0 -

Opps, yeah I meant to comment on that. I don't have a proper pipe bender - may try and borrow it. Unfortunately the knee option isnt there because of the awkward location of the pipes. Would use something to bend it around, just not sure what at present - currently thinking about the plastic bend on the washing machine outlet pipe. There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0 -
Hi
Use a pipe bender.

Theoretically possible, but best to send the wife out to the shops, and be neighbourly and do it when the neighbours are out too - for some reason, people can be really annoyed if walls are blown down while they are watching TV0

Someone's pulling your leg mate, how are you going to operate something like this in such a tight space?0

I actually think it may be possible - now to see if I can find someone who is willing to give me one (would say lend - but they may need to collect from large pile of rubble near my old house!)There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0 -

So, you ask advice & don't listen?
Lovely.
By the way it might fracture a joint below floor level letting gas escape into your floorboards & into the wall.
If your are not a troll you seem like a bit of an idiot to me.
You might want to warn your next door neighbours & family. Not Again0 -
You can bend copper pipe whilst minimising getting kinks in it by filling it with sand first if you haven't got a pipe bender. Though in your circumstances you can't because the pipe is sealed so you can't get the sand in, because of the lack of space i don't think a gas fitter would even consider trying to bend it, he'd want to cut it off and seal it again.
If there's only 10cm on view, is it really worth it ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
