ok well thats my mission for today! The sooner you complete a form the better as a claim starts from the Monday after it is received but you can ask for it to be backdated and they will decide about this, there is usually a part of the form which says about backdating.

As well as HB and CTB you can claim for the cost of travelling to any interviews set up by the agencies (car or public transport). These interviews can be anywhere and you can claim for an overnight stay if necessary. You'll need the invite letter as evidence.
As you new to this game I suggest you post a Statement of Affairs on here so we can help you budget so you can whittle away your debts. It is important that you don't borrow any more money.

If you're worried about how long the forms will take to process it's worth asking your council/jobcentre about emergency payments - at the end of the day if you didn't pay your rent & the landlord chucked you out they'd have to house you, so esp if the claim will go through OK but it takes X long to process they may give you something up front and just deduct that from the initial paymentTotal Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06
