Unlock Technika dvdFAW08 player

Options
Hi,

Can anyone help? I have a technika FAW08 dvd player and i want to unlock it to play region 1 dvd's. I've found the current instructions on this site, however they don't match the display on my dvd player. Current instructions are:
* Press the Open button on the front of the player
* Press the Setup button on your remote control
* Using the Left button on your remote control, change the
display to the Preference Page
* Press the Down button on your remote control to highlight
the Set TV Standard option
* Using your remote control, press the buttons 4, 9, 5, 4
and 0, in order, one at a time
NB : You may need to perform this step quicker if this
doesn't work as expected
* The onscreen display will display the currently selected
region
* Using the Up and Down buttons on your remote control,
change the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so
on, or 0 for multi-region playback
* Press the Setup button on your remote control
* Power Off your player
* Power On your player

Problem is when i press setup, and click left to change to the preference page, nothing happens... On my setup screen i get 5 icons, language setup, screen setup, audio setup, custom setup and exit setup mode. Can anyone tell me where i'm going wrong? Many Thanks.

    at a guess try the screen setup or failing that try custom setup its going to be trail and error as some manufacturers update firmware as they progress.
  • I have just replaced my old DVD player with a new Technika DVDFAW08. It was easy to do -- I just removed the SCART lead from the old DVD player, connected it to the new one instead, and switched everything on. It seemed to be fine, and I tested a DVD out -- all OK.

    The trouble is that it has affected my analogue TV picture. If the DVD player is switched to standby, then the TV picture disappears -- although the sound on the TV carries on as if nothing has happened!

    I thought that just leaving the DVD player on would solve the problem -- but, when a DVD is not actually being played, it switches itself off after a while, and so the TV picture vanishes too.

    Any ideas as to why this might be, and what the solution is ??
