it so happened that while going thru my credit card statement of last mo i suddenly realised that i had been charged for a payment which i had never made .
i immedieately called up the bank and informed them about it.They asked me to wait until i received a paper statement. However on not receiving a paper statement for a long time i contacted them again ,they said they would verify, and if it turns out to be right i would be charged 5 pounds or else the transaction would be reversed.
unfortunately when i was going thru my statement again of this mo,the same trasaction again came thru on the same date as the previous month.
i am very tense, because this means that someone has been using my credit card for some purchases.
i have now cancelled the credit card, however do not know what to do because i do not want to pay for something that i have never bought.
pl help as i am in a terrible state.

cancelling it was a good idea, contact the police too and I am sure the cc should have an appropiate department dealing with this sort of thing.
It could merely be a clerical error or a typo as it sounds like someone has used your card details to pay a sort of dd or standing order off it................also try contacting the people to whom the payment is being made,

Hi,
I've never been in this situation but I would imagine your best course of action would be to go to the police to report a crime and go back to the cc company again and speak to a manager/supervisor.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.
Good luck0 -
Does sound like a clerical error on a standing order if the same transaction appeared twice
Ask the CC company to send you a disputed transaction form
Fill in the details and send it back to them with proof of posting
Also make sure you speak to someone in their fraud/security department - every CC company has one and get their name and make them aware of the situation.
Is the card chip & pin?0 -
it is an american express cc and it is a chip and pin0

I don't want to worry you further but be aware that if someone has somehow managed to set up a recurring payment on your credit card then closing the account will NOT stop this. Speak to Amex's anti-fraud department ASAP as they should be keen to get to the bottom of this themselves.0

Closing a credit card account is NOT a good idea in these circumstances.
Just because an account is closed makes NO difference to the ability of companies to charge transactions to it.
All that closing your account does is inconvenience you.0
