One aspect to watch on their multi-year deposits - is that the interest is paid on maturity. It's more usual with such offerings that the interest is added annually.

Which means, in these cases, that tax is all due in the same year. An aspect to consider if you're close to a tax threshold and this consolidation will push you over?

That makes them a big no-no.
  • Iv also opened the account smoothly and recieved all the details.

Yep me too now, It seemed to be working again yesterday as well, I also opened up an account and sent the BACS payment off to them. It still annoys me to this day that banks wont process anything on Weekends! Isn't it all electronic anyway!!! Sheer greed to hang on to your money as long as they can!

That sounds fair as can be got now. Would they pay interest when you give 120 days notice or that is lost as a penalty I guess, not good

All of these seem fairly crap to me when inflation appears to be staying at 5% or so or maybe Im reading that wrong and it's falling back

Its practically criminal if people cant get a positive gain after inflation on their savings :undecided

That's about the most naiive statement I've ever read on here
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
  • How long does it take for the email with the account details to come through?

I applied on 06/09/10 and still nothing. I didn't save the reference number so cannot check the progress using the website.
