Im not sure if this is the right forum but my partners work has raised £600 and we are looking to build some kind of sensory room for my disabled daughter.
We want to start off with some of those bubble light tube things (not sure what their proper names are)
Ive looked on the poper special needs sites and they are like £600 + , i had one when i was younger with fish in it, and it was £100 max, only ive no idea where to look now.
Can anyone help??

I think you're talking about a lava / bubble lamp?

one of these, but this is the only 1 i can find0 -
How wonderful for her:) Do you have a one o clock club nearby?
The reason I ask is that most of them have fantastic sensory rooms and as they are mostly volunteer funded they obviously need to furnish their halls on a budget. Perhaps one of them can direct you to a supplier?0 -
yes she goes in 1 its where i got the idea, i suppose i could ask...i recon it would have been expensive though0

also try applying to charities for funding.a charity helped my grandson so much with sensory euiptment. theyve changed direction now ( thanks to the difficulties we encountered with my grandson) and focus much more on family support and liasing with the professionals.
but i am sure there are many small charities that would be more than willing to help if you asked.
good luck!0 -

You may have lots of ideas already, but google images has loads of examples of different lights to put in a sensory room.

here is an article about someone who got one through 'make-a-wish' charity. the children's hospital around here seems to make referrals to them so that might be a place to start if you have regular contact with one.
also look up snoezelen
rompa are a big provider of equipment for institutions but boy are they ever expensive!!!0 -
I can't post links but can recommend the Argos bubble lamp, I think it is the one Jazabelle has posted but I can't get the link to open. I've had it in my classroom for a few years now, it's still working well and the children love it.0
