Good Housekeeping magazine has been in touch about a feature called 'Help for Heroines', which aims to express the admiration and gratitude their readers feel towards the women supporting those serving in Afghanistan.
Here’s what they sent – if you would like to take part please contact Moya directly.
Good Housekeeping would like to interview the mothers, sisters, partners, grandmothers and daughters of people serving in Afghanistan for their Christmas issue. They are looking for a range of heart-warming stories about how these women will be spending Christmas this year, be it sharing Christmas by Skype, caring for an injured partner, or enjoying having them at home during the festive season.
Interviews would ideally take place by the 18th of August, and there will be a photo-shoot on Friday the 20th of August, with a hair and make up artist and stylist. The Good Housekeeping team would also like to invite interviewees for a special outing on Saturday the 21st of August, to express our gratitude.
They would like to speak to women of all ages, and are interested in hearing from those whose loved ones are in the Army, Royal Navy, and RAF. If you are interested or would like to find out more, please get in touch with Moya Sarner on: 020 7439 5684, or e-mail: moya.sarner@natmags.co.uk.

Its just a view but clearly Good Housekeeping are short of good stories.
Definition of Heroine: A woman noted for courage and daring action
I'm not quite sure that conversing over Skype or opening xmas presents together actually falls into this definition.0 -

FGS - did you have to ?
Thanks Jenny - I hope people feel encouraged by the GH offer even if they don't want to participate. GH will of course also include the female loved ones of any Royal Marines serving in Afghan......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Good to see GH noting that its not only the men out on ops. Women play just as vital role, they may not be front line war fighting but I know they are damn close to it.
I would ask is this aimed at the ladies out in Herrick or those left behind....either way they play an important role.
I applaud GH for noticing this gap!Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

Funny how you never get anything for the husbands/boyfriends of the lasses out on ops!0

So husbands or boyfriends of women in the forces don't count do they? The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!0 -

Of course they do, but in this instance GH are doing a special piece about females who have a connection to serving males......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Aint gonna happen, can you see a mens magazine doing an article about the 'heroes' who sit at home while their girlfriends are on operations. I also doubt they would get many volunteers to come forward.
The idea is even more ludicrous than calling a women sat at home watching coronation street and doing the weekly shop a 'heroine' :rotfl:0 -
As they're using the Help for Heroes angle (and kind of nicking the name!), I would think all the proceeds of this particular magazine issue are going to Help for Heroes fund? Could anyone from Good Housekeeping confirm this please?0
