It's getting worse !

Just who the hell do NCP think they are? The police, vigilantes?

If i were using one of their car parks in Manchester i would make sure i was wearing something covering my face.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1300810/Big-Brother-facial-recognition-cameras-rolled-NCP-car-parks.html

Read some of the idiotic comments along the lines of " You have nothing to fear if you have done nothing wrong tosh"

What's to stop them harrassing you if don't pay one of their scam invoices and use their car park again?

This really is a step too far now. It as got to stop.

  • I will ensure I never use NCP again, not that I use them much anyway. I agree, these scammers are going too far.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!

This is just a smokescreen so they can try to identify the drivers of vehicles who end up with tickets to attempt to push the matter through the courts. Therefore the drivers of the vehicles who have the 'contract' with the parking company will not be able to use the 'I did not know who was driving at the time' answer.

    BEWARE!

Totally agree, it's obvious why they have these cameras.

They don't have 'access to a database of known car thieves' (there may be one or two known robbers in each car park - certainly never enough to justify the cost of these cameras).

I have replied to the article as SchoolRunMum from pepipoo (my alter ego on another forum) but it's not appeared yet - they have to vet it first and may not like my use of the word 'scam' and 'fake PCN'. If it doesn't appear I will add another comment later.

Stunning that all those replies so far really believe the cameras are there to look for thieves! :rotfl:
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So you are a passenger in a car and have , in another car, avoided paying a carp invoice, are they going to come mob handed and turf you out?
I can see that a general cctv camera would not need any exemption from DPA but these cameras are quite specific in their use so how does the DPA apply here?

Fact is many of these PPC's know they are now losing the battle as word of mouth gets around more and more about their shameful scam tactics.

I should imagine that they have seen a substantial loss of revenue over the past few years as more people become aware of their shamefull tactics and less people pay these so called fines.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that if you patrol a free to park car park that a great deal of their revenue is going to come from these so called fines. Yes I know tesco's, sainsburys etc pay them to monitor the car parks but if the parking warden staff want the 20 lb turkey not the 3 lb chicken for Christmas then they need to stick a few bits of toilet paper on peoples cars and hope they have hooked the right fish.

NCP realise they are in a fight for their survival and are trying their best to try to tip the balance more in their favour.

I would point out to the general reader that photographs of the heads of several Private Parking Companies are to be found in the press and consequently on google.

Readers should not infer that I imply they should used to confuse these cameras. I merely point out the weakness of this with information from the same fleld.
