Charged for being overdrawn - £20.00 by RBS

Hi ive recently opened a account with RBS, this is a seperate account, as main account is HSBC.

Unfortuantley i brought something online and the funds were not available in my rbs account, a few days later i noticed that my account said -£10.00 and i transferred £50.00 so i had some money in their.

RBS have charged me £20.00, is this correct?? Should i asked for the charges to be refunded as i am a new customer.. this is the first time ive ever been charged and ive had my hsbc account for about 8 years.

Any advice would be great!

Yes the charges are correct, Look at the website it explains it all. And No bank will refund charges now after winning at the supreme court, Unless its the banks error.

    Why wouldn't it be correct?

The good news is that at the first such charge, although it's entirely up to them, almost all of the banks will refund it. Once. And some will make the experience of asking unpleasant... :p Just don't blame the people on the other side of the phone...

Why would you even attempt to buy something online without having available funds in your account to pay.
Seems like you asked to be charged ;)

I would write a nice letter to RBS. Weasle words about new customer, did not realise I would have insufficient funds etc. My guess is you will be refunded.

    Good luck
