We're struggling to find a place to live in Sussex/Surrey way. Have tried a few agents, but having rented privately for the past 4 years, it's only a route of desperation. Haha, well perhaps "savvy landlords" was a generalisation too far! Although the particular landlord I refer to is pretty successful, and had discounted several previous applicants based on the questions asked during the initial 'chat'. Similarly, we discounted several private landlords based on the same initial feelings about them. Our previous landlord certainly did ask for proof of earnings and references.
