Help! How do I spot whether an Ed Hardy Watch is fake?

My neighbour wants me to sell an Ed Hardy watch that she bought from a shop on ebay for her. I've looked up how to spot fake Ed Hardy items, but I can't find anything on watches. It's boxed in an ed hardy watches box, and says on the inside of the strap that it's genuine leather and made in the USA, and has ed hardy embossed on the inside also.

She bought it for £20 from a store where a lot of designer gear had been brought in - i I've been reading that with Ed Hardy stuff if you bought it for a low price then it's most likely fake, but my neighbour said it had only been there for two hours when she went in and saw it, so I think that the owner of the shop hadn't really had a chance to look at it.

She has no idea whether it's genuine or not (I dont think she even thought about it) so I don't want to put it on ebay as an Ed Hardy watch if it's a fake.

I've posted some pics below (sorry for the size!)

Take it to a dealer and get them to assess it.

I would also suggest that you don't sell it for your friend. Frequently we have people post who have sold things for friends or family and something goes wrong with the sale the ebay account is negged or paypal account is frozen and they end up out of pocket and lose a friend. It's really not worth doing.

Get your friend to open an ebay account actually if the bought the item they already have one. Just offer them some advice.

I echo that, never sell for anyone else, ever.

The odd thing is we had another thread a while ago and my brain immediately thought of a series of books, and I couldn't work out why a character from a very old book was a design icon.

I think I need to get out more.

Hi OP my advise is if you sell anything for a friend it is a quick way to lose that friend and sometimes lose some money as well.
I would never sell anything on my ebay accounts for friends or even family.

Thanks for the advice all. I've decided against doing it for her, I don't really want the hassle
  • This is definately a fake. Here is a link to the 'real' item.
