Admiral Car Insurance - offering to settle direct

OH got rammed at a roundabout the other week by a bunch of yobbos in a car who were insured by Admiral.

The car was drivable but was written off this week.

Spoke to our insurers Direct Line who had not heard from the other side. DL appointed a solicitor to handle the whiplash (very minor, 2 day effect).

We got a letter from Admiral to say they apologise on behalf of their client and would like to supply us witha car etc (a bit late as DL had given us one).

Then, they must have heard from our solicitor for the whiplash as they called to say they want to deal with the claim today and therefore wish to offer £750. I told OH to turn down and accept £1500. It ended at £1350 to which even the solicitor acting for us by DL said grab it with both hands. so cheque is in the post. I am surprised Admiral didnt want medical evidence, but I have to praise them for their efficiency!

I had something similar, I got rammed last christmas eve (great timing!) but at least the other party admitted it.

I put it in the hands of an accident management company and then was surprised to get a phone call from another AM company engaged by the other insurance company who offered help to get me back on the road. They were just trying to save money.

A word of warning, the other insurers are refusing to pay the like for like car hire charges from my accident management company and it's ending up in a court case.

Generally because it's excessive and Axx Management companies try delay repairs etc to squeeze more money out of insurers..

Remember, axx management companies just want to make profit

Making them just like any (every!) other commercial operation in the world!

    What's wrong with that??

with insurance claims you agree to minimise claims, claims managment are there to load. This is a big reason for such high insurance now

My understanding was that insurance intends to put you in the position you were before the event.

As my car was insured for business use then a like for like car was needed, my insurer wouldn't provide a courtesy car.

It's a long story but I did try and minimise costs by sourcing a replacement car once the write off value of mine was agreed, the other insurer delayed by asking for further inspections etc. so I only had a hire car for a month whereas the cheque took 2 months to arrive.

There's making profit and then theres purposely screwing insurance companies over with excessive hire costs for repairs that were dragged out
