using Mobile Phone abroad

Hi

I am going to dubai next week. I wanted to ask whether it would be worth me contacting 02 to see if I can get a cheaper bundle to call from abroad or would I be best buying a sim card from there and topping it up with some money.

My phone is quad band so should be operational over there.

Which option works out cheaper?

Thanks

    Last time I was there Dubai was v.v. expensive to use your mobile. Phone o2 and chech the rates for there. Also make sure you disable your voicemail. i got a £75 bill just for people leaving messages on my phone that I didn't even retrieve.

    If you want to buy a PAYG sim over there your phone needs to ne unlocked from o2, although lots of their phones are, again ask o2 about that.

    I hope they refunded that money or voided the bill.

    Nope, I was with Virgin mobile at the time, it was hidden on their website, in a completely different area to the info on using your phone abroad, that they would charge. Needless to say I ditched Virgin mobile.

    Defo Etisalat out of the two, they have better coverage.

    I'm glad that you clarified, as usually O2 are fair when it comes to this.
