Don't blame you csnann! Hopefully it's not water in the cable and one of the other suggestions will work0

I have a plug-in (not masthead) amp on mine, and it is the difference between no breakup, and occasional picture breakup on certain muxes.
Albertross, I would be curious to know which make and model amp your using?0 -
I have used various over the years, they all improve the picture, especially digital when it on the borderline of breaking up due to atmospherics. You are right they do amplify noise/analogue ghosting as well, but the amplification of the good signal outweighs any negative effects. (My problem isn't ghosting).
My analogue TV picture is always better with one on, and digital doesn't break up at all with one, without it happens sometimes.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
I decided to get the aerial checked out, apparently the connections had corroded a bit so the engineer replaced the cable which meant drilling a hole in the wall. This improved the signal coming in to 32db, unfortunately the box still didn't work so I still have to buy another one! I suppose its just as well I got the man out though, a new box probably wouldn't have worked without a good signal.0

The aerial is "group B pol V", all the UHF channels I get are in the 40 - 54 range which were being picked up fine until the box started acting up! It also gets the Crystal Palace signal but that is too weak to tune into.0
