My MIL is after a small upright freezer and needs the old one disposed of. I know Currys and Comet both offer this service for a fee but do any other online electrical stores offer it? Our local council will also take it away but it's around the same price as Currys and Comet would charge.

Our local tip takes fridges/freezers for free. They have a small area for them. Do you have a tip you could take it to?0

Just the council one but they charge virtually the same as Currys/Comet.0

Is it working at all? If so, and you only bought the new one to upgrade rather than replace, there might be a local charity who would take it from you.0

There is usually no charge if you are taking the freezer to the tip yourself. I would double check with your council in case they were at cross purposes. If they def do charge and you are able take it to another council s site. I am lucky in that I have 2 authorities sites within a 15 mile radius.0

if it is working use freecycle.org; someone will be able to make use of it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
