Contents Claim

Hello all,

I'm new here but oping you can help. After 7 months of dieting I have lost 3.5 stone in weight. I have been noticing my wedding and engagement rings getting looser on my finger, and had been telling myself that I must go and get them re-sized. But I returned to work yesterday after my lunch hour and noticed that they were gone, they must have slipped off.

I checked my insurance policy and I am covered for up to £2k of unspecified items away from home - my rings combined cost £1200 in 2004. So I need to make a claim on my contents insurance but am worried that the insurer may deem that I have been neglient in not wearing correctly fitted rings and they may refuse the claim.

Just looking for some general advice really, do you think that they may refuse and do I need a police reference number?

Been with the same insurer (Lloyds) for years and have never made a claim.

Many thanks in advance for your help.
