Are there any insurers that accept a 2.5 year gap in a no claims bonus?

Hi, My GF and I went abroad for 2.5 years and have come back. The car insurers are telling her that her 8 year no claim bonus cannot be claimed because it has a 2 year or more gap.
Are there any insurers that allow for a 3 year gap. I've read on a post here that there are 'one or two' that will, but no names of insurers have been mentioned.
I've tried ringing Aviva as I'd heard Norwich Union used to allow a 3 year no claims, but they said only 2 years.
Any help appreciated, need to get this sorted asap.
***OK scrub the above, Aviva have now said they do accept a three year gap in a no claims bonus FYI.***

I was going to metion Aviva. There may be other companies and a broker would be able to advise which.0

Aviva will take 3 years but you may need to go through a broker as aviva direct and there broker policies are different0

No need for a broker - you can take a policy out online.
Go to whichever is cheapest. (You can get cashback online via the cashback sites)
(Only rogue brokers come here and use the pm system to tout for business! And you cynically break the MSE rules on advertising by putting your firm's twitter link in your sig)0 -

I said may need and as the original poster suggested he was having trouble direct with Aviva I stand by my statement.
As for rules its my twitter page and if its breaking the rules I will remove it but I do not advertise for busines son Twitter let alone here and im not in the market for personal lines anyway.
Only idiots accuse people of being a rogue without first investigating the truth.
back on track I stand by my statement if your struggling speak with a local broker and by that I mean local to you0 -

Calling anyone an idiot on a board like this is hardly in keeping with a so called professional (sorry, "proffessional") like you.
I did of course investigate "your" twitter page before pointing out you were just cynically breaking the no advertising rules here.
In fact it is named after your insurance brokers, and contains many tweets with links to your brokers for things like:
ensuring you have the right cover/travel insurance/welcome to xxxx&yyyyy insurance brokers for all your insurance needs etc etc.
In short, you protest too much. And cynically now putting your link in your profile instead of in your sig still breaks the no advertising rules, but you know that!
And why do you invite us to pm you to speak directly to you if you aren't touting for business?StephenMarsh wrote:Anything I post is my view and should not be taken as proffessional advice. If you do wish to speak to me direct please feel free to PM me.0 -

Quoted from the rules page and why is it allowing me to quote an url if it isnt allowed ?
"Users are allowed links in profile pages but please don't mention them in your posts or signature in any way."
I have no wish to argue with you on someone else thread if you wish to discuss it further feel free to pm me, if you feel I am doing something against the sprit of this forrum please feel free to report me.0 -
You happily use words like "idiot" when denying your link was to your company's twitter page - I point out that it is named after the business and crammed with links to your business.
You remove your direct link to your business and replace it with your indirect link (only when it's pointed out you are cynically using the forum to advertise).
Then (as a last resort??) you wonder if asking us to pm you is "against the spirit of this forrum"!
When you scoured the rules, did you miss the bit about not using the forum or the pm system to tout for business?0 -
Hey guy's
I was in a similar situation and have just used Aviva thanks to this forum. The only other people I found where Adrian Flux who are brokers but will find policies that accept NCB's that are 2 years plus old.
The Aviva policy was still more (£550 instead of £350) then if I had a NCD that had expired less then 2 years ago but it means when the policy ends I'll have 7 years NCB rather then 1 (providing I dont make a claim of course :-)0
