I managed to reserve the hand blender but there was only one store in the whole of the north that had them in stock. give my sister a quick ring to see if she wanted one too, she did so i tried to reserve another one to see that they are now showing as out of stock in the store i reserved mine it. Looks like i got the last one unless i get a call from customer services to say there as been a 'stock discrepancy' like many others have.
The reason for this could simply be that the items are out on the shelves and in the time it takes the staff to pick it off the shelves and put it to one side for collection, someone else picks it up and buys it.0 -
Thanks OP - Got some bargains last night!
Got a Crockpot stockpot - a massive 6.5l for £12, Rice cooker at £5, Hinari chrome steamer at £8, Kenwood bread maker at £15 and the iron at £40.
I did notice that they also had one of those Tefal Quick cup things for instant boiled water reduced from about £60 to £15. (Don't know if this has already been mentioned). There were also lots of toasters with really big reductions - there was a nice brushed steel one reduced from over £30 to about £6. Can't see these on the website though - they were just in store.
They did have a few things still in stock at the Dewsbury store (although it may only be the display models).0 -
While I was in Curry's picking up my iron, I noticed that they had another Carlton one similar to the reduced one, for £34.99. I'm assuming it must be the new one out, but it had a water indicator plus an anti-scale system. It was only 2200 watt and was non pressurised and I was wondering what the difference is between pressurised and non pressurised? Does it make a big difference to your ironing? I hate ironing so am always looking for ways to make it easier.;)
I thought that a non-pressurised would basically just be a regular iron with a big reservoir...I looked it up and pressurized steam is hotter as raising the pressure makes the boiling point higher.
I'm going to try to get one of the pressurized ones this weekend (still showing in stock at all of the stores around me). I have a T-fal one already and it was brilliant, but the soleplate has gotten quite worn over the years and it's gotten quite discoloured and worn down as a result of cleaning (probably improper, but can't get it clean any other way).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
...also spotted this coffee maker for £2.97
I saw this coffee maker first-hand today in Macclesfield Curry's.
Didn't buy it as nobody in the house drinks coffee, but at that price it was still tempting ><
Looked cheap and nasty ofcourse, but then what do you expect for £3
There was also another brand that was a little more, £6.97 I think, it didn't look quite so cheap & nasty. It doesn't appear to be on the website unfortunately.0 -
Incidentally, is this clearance intended to coincide with a large scale refurbishment throughout the DSG group?
Warrington PC World is closed, under refurb, with most of their stock next door in Curry's.
Macclesfield Curry's has half the store hidden behind ceiling-high fibre-boards, with workmen beavering away behind.
Has anyone else spotted refurbishment in their local Curry's/PCWorld?0 -
I bought one of the Carlton pressurised Irons after a few days of the thread starting. It reminds me of one of those wall paper stripping machines where you basically have a store of water being boiled and the steam being forced down a tube to the end in this case an iron plate. Its fast, but you have to have the ironing organised and ready to go as its constantly 'on the boil'. there's a flick switch on the iron to release the steam, but sometimes you just want to quickly move something without flicking the switch. There's 6 downsides:
1) No indicator level
2) Sometimes it leaves big wet patches on clothes -havent worked out why yet and most clothes are quite damp after
3) Very hot drops of water falling from iron onto my bare feet- luckily by the time its got to them its not boiling.
4) Drips falling off the underside of the ironing board too!
5) And its quite a big heavy device, takes up a lot of room.
6) Horrible burning rubbery smell.
Still, I'll give it a few more weeks and see how it goes !Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)
It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound in weight. Target 13 lbs weight loss. 18.5lbs lost 2nd May - 28 September.0 -
Our local Currys is about be refurbed "as part of a new format" with PCWorld on the mez floor. 2 stores in one building maybe reducing duplicated product lines and costs.TehJumpingJawa wrote: »Incidentally, is this clearance intended to coincide with a large scale refurbishment throughout the DSG group?

Pixmania appear to have the same iron for £20 plus postage. As a new user I cannot include the link but a search on the uk pixmania website will highlight the iron.0
