Halifax Advice Please!!

Not sure whether I am writing this thread in the correct place...

I bank with the halifax and when I moved out from my parents I forgot to change my address - until recently. I changed it about a month ago now to my student house in Newcastle.

I recently recieved in the post a card which says 'our representitive will be calling your home on.....please telephone if this is not convinient'

Now when they say 'calling your home' does this mean calling at my house or phoning my home?

I have heard this is to confirm that it is you living at this address, does this sound right?

I am also worried as we are suddenly moving again (long story with our landlord) and the date which the representitive will be calling is 2 days after we move out of our current house. So I need to change my address again....this surely can't look good to halifax?!

Anyway, if anyone has ever had one of these letters let me know what happened with you :)

I've never heard of such a letter. What difference does it make to Halifax knowing where you live? When studying I never bothered to change my address, just kept it at my home address. Double check with your parents because I don't think this "postcard" has anything to do with address verification (as you imply).
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

People change addresses all the time - I'm sure there's no issue. Just tell them the truth; you're a student and you're moving again. They can call before you leave or at your new address.
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?

How much do you owe them, and how well are you maintaining the account?
  • It means they will call you on the telephone.

They only usually send those when you are in some sort of debt.

It will be nothing to do with your address change other than the fact that they now have the correct address to send mail to.
    (c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places ) :D

No - it's more to do with the debt to Halifax indicated in your other post?
