hi all,
we've just got our first maxi-cosi car seat.. we bought a familyfix base and got given a cabriofix seat by a friend.. problem is, we've not been able to get them to fit together and have now realised that two metal bars are missing from the bottom of the seat.. these bars are what clip onto the base..
im not sure why they arent there yet.. we know that the seat was secured via the seat belt method previously so they werent neded but why or if the bars were removed, we dont know...
can anyone advise me where i might be able to pick up replacements? can i get these directly from maxi-cosi and how much might they cost?
thanks all!

Are you sure the seat isn't damaged ?
I have just finished using a Cabriofix with the Easyfix base for my son. The bars are still in place and have never come loose. They also look as they are not meant to be removed.
Be careful before using they seat in question.Never buy a stupid dwarf -
Its not big and its not clever.0 -
its from a very good friend of my other half.. they say its been cared for and never in an accident etc etc. so should be fine.. they always strapped it in with seatbelts though so never used the bars..
they're away on holiday now for a few weeks so we cant ask them if they removed the bars.. we're wondering if its an older model that didnt come with them or they were an optional extra or something??
you're right though, if we dont get to the bottom of this or arent 100% satisfied that its okay then we wont risk it and will buy our own...0 -
It may never have had them - you could get a cabriofix just for seat belt fixing, or one for the locking system.0

It sounds like you have the maxicosi easybase which is fitted to the car with a seatbelt not isofix connectors.
You mention the familyfix base - that doesn't fit the cabriofix carseat, it only fits the pebble carseat.
Look at the maxicosi website for more info (sorry it won't let me post the link)0 -

wait.. now im confused! when you say 'easybase' are you talking about the actual car seat or the base it clips onto? we definitely have the familyfix base and it does work with the cabriofix seat, we got told as much by john lewis when we bought it and if you dig deep enough in the maxi-cosi website instructions for the familyfix base it says: "The FamilyFix Base is also suitable for the current Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix car seat." I think they try to hide it so you buy the fancier car seat!
We aren't sure what seat we have.. we were told by my others half friend that its a cabriofix but i thought it might be different because it doesnt have those bars across the bottom but if they used to come with and without bars then it must be just a non-bars version...0 -

It sounds like teh older style that didn't have the bars on, the one that has the flush bottom on it that you couldn't use with travel systems x0 -
If I remember correctly the older seats were callled cabrio and didn't have the bars - the newer ones ( cabriofix ) did have ( about 3 years ago ) so it may be worth checkin which one you have - have they still got the instruction booklet as that would say cabrio or cabriofix
Even if it was bought more recently depending where it was bought it could be old stock0 -

didnt have the instructions with it but it does say 'cabrio' on it and not cabriofix so you're probably right!0
