Hi,
I have broadband but the cabling is an issue as I need an extension to connect to my pc, so I have been looking at wireless routers to do the job.
Now I start to get confused as to what I need to do this. I have found this product from Argos and am wondering if I get this what else do I need?
Sorry for the stupid questions but this confuses me

thanks all

If you are on ADSL (BT line) and not cable then that is the kind of produt you are looking for, you will also need a wirless card for you pc.
You might be able to get a better price than that if you buy online, depends whether you need it today or not!Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
Hi,
I have broadband via Madasafish - adsl.
I wanted to get the router etc this weekend so in store purchasing is probably my best option. Thanks for the advice on the wireless card - where do these fit as its not for a laptop?
Any good deals out there that would suit?
I am running xp
thanks0 -
there are 2 types of card..
if you are confident of opening your pc up and putting a card in you need something like:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0458647247.1158308179@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdiaddilflijhgcflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=886359&category_oid=
if not then a usb one can be used:

putting the card in the pc is the better way to do it.
have a look on pc worlds website and you can do click and collect to get a better price.
This is what i have http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/972885 and it works ok.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
thanks woo.
with regard to setting up the connection am I right in saying - connect the usb adapter to your pc, connect the router to your phone line, install the router software and thats it?0 -
that's about it.
you don't need install any software for your router, you will for your pc bit.. you need to follow the sticky thread about setting up security though as the first thing you do.
your router will also need configuring to talk to your service provider, e.g. user name and password. the getting started guides are pretty good for that.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0
