Cheque into someone else's account

My partner and I have recently moved to Scotland. I have an Alliance and Leicester current account which has a branch in our town and my partner is with Natwest who don't have a branch near to us.
She has just been payed from work by cheque. As there isn't a Natwest branch anywhere near us can she put the cheque into my account? We can both be at my branch with ID and proof of address etc. Just wondered what our options were. Thanks in advance.

  • I'm afraid the cheque would be payee only meaning it can only go into an account in her name

it might be an idea to open up a new account at the closer bank

Pop the cheque and a paying in slip in an envelope and send it to your branch.

If she has pay-in slips at the back of her cheque book, she can use these at any Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) branch to pay in the cheque.

If she is going to get lots of cheques, then get natwest to send her a pay-in book full of those slips.

I guess if your based in Scotland, there will be some RBS branches about.
