Scottish Power Wayleave advice sought
Hi, first post so please be gentle.. I need some advice, my in-laws have an overhead power line crossing their property and were contacted by a surveyor to take on their case for wayleave or easement payments some three and a half years ago. I think this has dragged on for too long without any offer, so.
If they own the property and it's valued at £100,000 and they've lived in it for 38years (Their parents lived in it from 1930 before the overhead line and didn't receive any payment) is there a formula to work out what they should receive and/or what would be the average?

Was the overhead powerline installed since they have owned the property?
If not, it's unlikely that they'll get any money. They knew it was there when they bought the property and should have decided on the purchase value accordingly.
If the power line was installed after they owned the property, then they should probably be compensated for any reduction in value of the property that the installation caused at the time of the event (plus interest if applicable)."Now to trolling as a concept. .... OHL was installed when their parents lived in the property, found out this morning that Scottish Power made an offer 9months ago, but the surveyor who is supposed to be acting on their behalf, didn't tell them and didn't accept the offer. Now the very same surveyor has applied on behalf of someone else to have the pylon removed and SP have withdrawn all offers until it's been sorted out. I don't think the surveyor has acted very professional at all, need to find an obudsman et al to take the surveyor to book..0

He may be trying to drive up the offer with that tactic?
However if you feel there is a complaint you can't resolve with him have a look at his qualification eg RICS & that may give you a pointer as to who you can complain to
