Notice to newcomers - Re: Trolls - part 8

Time for another one of these
Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.
What is a Troll?
A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made. If you should get such a comment made on any thread you post, asking for help and advice, please realise this comment is not directed at you personally so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal because the majority of us really are a lovely bunch – ooops, modesty!
What should I do if I get a comment made on my thread?
Firstly do not respond to the comment as this is invariably what the troll wants. So to get rid of the offending post, at the bottom of the post towards the right hand side you’ll see a red "Warning" triangle within a blue “Abuse” icon, as shown below:
Click the icon and then "send" the message which will inform the abuse team of the post, who will then review its content and deal with it as appropriate; sometimes even deleting the troll by making their status PPR’d (Posting Privileges Removed). Remember, this site is an asset to so many people, especially those that feels like their world is falling in around them. There is a wealth of knowledgeable people here all willing to help, whatever you do, do not let the comments of one silly individual deter you from availing yourself of the knowledge base that is on offer here.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE FORUM
It is testament to the work that Martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time, knowledge and experience freely to others; without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of their debt crisis

Thanks Fermi but can you answer me a question please?
When that kind of post is reported, how come, seeing what the post is like, the username is not PPR'd straight away instead of being allowed to post almost 50 times and flood the site - like they seem to have done with the last [STRIKE]1[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]2[/STRIKE] 3 usernames they then joined in as? Please - I just want to know how it works - or doesn't in Niddy's case?
Martin's abuse team respond to emails/reports when they can. They are not online checking every minute of every day.
So when something like that happens it may be a while before they come online, read the report and take action.
I can only assume that whoever dealt with it last night was on the look out after the first AE, so dealt with subsequent ones quicker. Also myself and a few other BG's were flagging up the new AEs to 'abuse' which undoubtedly helped as well.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

ok someone just updated me on the troll infestation last night all I can say is what a knob jockey (K.J)!!! Its really sad, I read a thread where niddy really helped someone, I thought he was the ultimate man the way he took this frighten timid women just retired, with a shocking amount of debt & helped her write it off. I had a bit of a cyber crush to be honest! (am a sucker for someone who does nice things for ppl, it'll get me everytime).
Obviously small man/woman syndrome going on. What's with the K.J, most ppl are wrapped up enough in their own lives to be mean to others:rotfl:. And all I can say is its not very Dalai Lamaish is it? not applying the rules of what it is to be fundamentally human, and therefore not able to be truely happy. I feel sorry for ppl like this

Niddy has given a lot of advice to people on this forum, and given a lot of his time too.
Sadly there will always be trolls of some kind. As you say, they obviously have not enough going on in their own lives, but quite what the Dalai Lama has to do with it, i dont know. If these trolls were at all concerned with what His Holiness teaches, they wouldnt have the time to be a troll. If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them~Dalai LamaHow people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours~Wayne DyerLet none find fault in others.
