BL, I know the good colleges, it's just the timings of the courses I want to do to see if they clash. Although I've got a short list of about five A levels I want to do, so hopefully one of them'll fit around everything else!

I wish I had the enthusiasm to do a college course in something, I often look through what's on offer but can't find anything that I think would hold my interest for long enough. I wouldn't want to do proper exams like GCSE's or anything, I didn't do them at school as I left just before it became compulsory;) but I always had good jobs, but things were different then. I did once (a few years ago) think of becoming a driving instructor and looked into it but the cost put me off, I wish now I had've done it though:(

Erme, the 16 hour thing is pants, and doesn't make sense. Like, when I tried uni full time, it only counted as part time because I was only in for 5 hours, they don't count the 40 hours reading I was supposed to do. But at least it means that OU counts for very little - averaging about half an hour a week. I need to sort out what I want to do, what I can do without it clashing, and then if I can 'afford' the hours for everything. Part of me thinks I shouldn't be jumping into so much so soon after a hypomanic episode, but I know that I need to so that I've got structure, routine, and plenty to keep me occupied so that if I start to slide down into depression it might not be as bad. That's my theory anyway, and it's worked in the past. I just have to make sure I pick the right college's so that they're supportive.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble! Hallway's cleared now, everything's either in boxes, in piles waiting for boxes, or in bags for the charity shop.

You know what they say in my recovery plan...if it works for you and it's been proven to work for you THEN DO IT regardless of what the theory is...I believe in routine too....

Didn't know you had Bipolar Ames....I have personality disorder and schizophrenia (took me a long time to get both diagnosed) and have just had a psychotic episode and have a history of an eating disorder (these days my CPN just calls it disordered eating? Go figure?)

Anyhow....all jobs done and new hair straighteners tried out from ebay and they are fab.....:D and they were cheap and don't dry my hair out (why get second hand when you can decent new on ebay for less than £15?)

Anyhow bed time soon so here is the bedtime cuppa for folks tonight....

BL, I love exams and structured learning. It's one of the problems I have with the OU, it's nearly all on essays which I always struggle to motivate myself to do. I wish I was better at stuff that would be useful in real life though.

Erme, my current diagnosis isn't bipolar. It changes with every new psychiatrist! Currently the scorecard is:

Bipolar: two consultants, one and a half SHO's.
Borderline Personality Disorder: one consultant, one locum (who I don't really count as he literally only saw me for ten minutes) and half an SHO.
Cyclothymia with affective and anxiety disorders: one consultant, that's my current dx.

So I've kinda given up on the names, I just concentrate on what helps! My current meds are doing well, and with no side effects (it's taken more than I can remember to get to this point!), and I'm finding out what helps. I'm doing work on that with my support worker, and I've come so far over the last year with her help. It's why I'm so angry with social services, saying that they wont take into account my meetings with her or the therapeutic groups as legitimate expenses, I can't give them up because they're helping so much, but I can't afford to take it out of my food budget like SS say I should. Anyway, I'm meeting my social worker on Wednesday, so hopefully something can be worked out.

Ooops, that turned into a longer post than I meant it to.

  • Erme & Ames - I feel for you both, you are going through such a lot and doing your utmost to get it sorted and it doesn't help when the people that are supposedly there to help you, make things worse by putting obstacles in the way all the time, like SS. I hope things improve for you both soon, I really do. X

Thank you BL. But for me things have already improved so much over the last year I can barely recognise my life now from what it was!
