I know people with the same computer who are using the same aol with same Modem/Router
Netgear DG834G ADSL Modem / Wireless Router on Dell Inspiron1300
I got a AOL silver with Netgear wireless router yesterday. I can get on the broadbamd, noproblems but I cannot get the wireless.
I have done all the steps given here and I have contacted the AOL as well and follewed all their instructions as well but to no vail.
I could not get my wireless working.
When I try and do all the steps, I still cannot foind any wireless network inspite of the facyt that the router is on.
I am using Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop with a Dell WLAN card.
Earlier when I was at my previous address, my laptop was picking up signals from the neighbours but I didnt have wireless at that time.
But now, whwnever I do a search for a wireless network it says that no wireless networks are found in range.
I have checked and the wireless is on on by Dell.
I again apologise for a long story but I am really very confused!!!

is the wireless light on on the router?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
My previous Netgear router (DG834GT) has the wireless turned-off by default. Most probably the one bundled with AOL is turned off by default too.0

I just upgraded myself last week from ADSL modem to wireless. You will need to go to a Netgear page and be configured. While I didn't take notes, it was easy. AOL tech support walked me through it and they were extremely helpful!
I followed previous MSE advise and used the JustSayNoto0870 and found a toll free number. Call 0800 279 6771 and when prompted, click on tech support. They will help you from there!
Good luck!0 -

I'd love to hear how that goes! I just got them down from £17.99 to £14.99 lifetime but £9.99 - now that's excellent! Good luck and go get 'em!0
