Possibly a stupid question but...

I declared myself bankrupt back in Feb 2005, I've been discharged now for approaching 5 years (will be 5 in October).

A large chunk of what I owed and what tipped me over the edge was the PPI I was paying at the time...

Would I be eligible for any kind of compensation?

I suspect not but I feel it's worth asking...

Thanks,

    Hi there

No harm in asking, you don't know until you do.;)

I understand that you can still make a reclaim if the policy was mis sold to you for any reason.

I am sure someone will clarify on this otherwise, but I have heard others have made or tried to make a reclaim on the PPI even being bankrupt.

Wonder if anyone would know if you posted about this matter on the IVA/Bancrupty thread here below perhaps?

Worth posting up to ask, and if you require help from here, give us a yell, good luck.:)

Good luck, as Di says you can only try xx If it was yours to begin and you were mis sold then I hope you do

Very tricky area of law, as it is effectively accrued assets from a time before you were declared bankrupt that if known have should have been declared. I suspect you can claim and nobody can chase you for earlier repayment of debt as only for a year after being declared bankrupt can 'windfalls' be seized and repaid to creditors. However I am not sure, it may be that the right to claim for compensation for PPI from this period rests with your unpaid creditors.
