what is the best permanent dark brown colour you used

I had my hair highlighted, bleached and coloured and everything... Now I want it dark brown/or ash subtle black but can't risk it to turn jet black or brassy (can't afford correction, hairwise and otherwise) I used some dark colours (Garnier and Loreal ) and they seem to wash out , even the permanent ones :eek::eek::eek: I…

I used Clairol perfect ten on mine last night. I did leave it on longer than 10 mins as I had a bath in the meantime, but it has worked v v well and covered my greys 100%
