Apoligies if this is common knowledge, and I only know that it works for Abbey bank accounts only.
If your direct debit, standing order or cheque bounces and you incur a charge on your account, this can be automatically 'wiped off' by the system on your Abbey bank account as long as you can pay cleared funds (cash) into the bank account on the same day it bounces.
