Dumb Question_sorry

I don't own credit card and have some savings allthough we have just spent most on buying a property.
I am wondering wether it is worth using a credit card intrest free for the renovation of the property.
This should cost around 10 to 12k.
I can cover the re payments.
How do you find out your credit limit?
Do you have to apply before they tell you?
I take it I could use more than one card to get this amount.
Or is it to much hassle?
Anybody else use cards for this type of thing?
thx for looking in.

  • Im no expert but ill comment where I can:

    - Always go for the cheapest form of load/credit. So yes, interest free credit cards mkay be a good option. Especially if you were going to borrow the money anyway, and not use your savings.

    - Look into a cashback credit card. You can get over 2% back from your spendings. This is significant if you are spending 12k.

    - I believe you must apply for a card before they tell you your credit limit. This is as your credit limit is based upon you as an individual. They will consider your past history etc... I doubt you will get the full amount as a first card.

    - Taking out many cards may not be so easy. Every time you apply a credit check is done. If a credit company sees many recent credit checks it may get suspicious and decide against you. Also, if you are getting a small credit limit on your first card you may need 7 or 8 cards!?
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!

    thanks for your input.
Although if I would need quite a few cards to get this amount, I am thinking I would most probably only be looking at getting 2 to 3k limit on each.
This sounds to me like to much mither or is that me being to lazy.
