Stupid, Stupid Me

I was patiently waiting for the item I was winning to come to an end, so with 3 mins to go I thought to myself, "what could I do in this spare time?"

The answer came, "Run CCleaner, you haven't done that in a while".

I did so, and when it had run I noticed I'd received a new email. What's this I thought, checked email.

Email: "You've been outbid"

Frantic switching and refreshing previous browser window as I remember about my item (many obscenities mouthed) but it doesn't work as my cookies were all deleted by CCleaner :wall: by the time I log in I get to the item page and there are 5 secs to go... (adrenalin rushing) I type in the amount and as I press "Bid Now" it tells me that it's all too late  (more obscenities at this point) :wall:

This is just a word of advice in case there is anyone out there as moronic as me who thinks of deleting their cookies a few mins before an item ends... :o :rotfl:

Aren't you supposed to put you maximum bid in anyway ;)

Now, what would be the fun in that?
You put in a minimum bid, then when outbid, you enter a maximum, then as you watch the auction end and get outbid again, you put up your bid to stupid amounts. Thrill of the hunt.

I hate losing my cookies. Well done.

I actually had gone almost to my max "budget" :) and was winning, but knew that some little runt may come along and outbid me at the last minute.

Yes it does involve sometimes getting personal and bidding to stupid amounts but it's the principle :rotfl: :D
  • I love customers who do that. It's really fun when I'm selling something which looks to be making peanuts then I get a last-minute bidding war!

That's why I always favour the last 15 seconds snipe bid. I put in what I think will get me the item. If I get outbid, there's not enough time to get wound up and bid more than I want to. eBay is dangerous like that!

Edit: And on the odd occasion I do get a bit silly, if I win the item I make sure I leave feedback like: "This is the best item in the world ever, what a bargain!" in the hope that the person who was bidding against me will be even more upset at losing out. Is that childish? :rotfl:
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I normally bid within the final 10secs. Have two browsers open, one to refresh the time and one all set up to confirm bid. Reduce size of both browsers so that they both appear on the same screen.

I hate it when this happens, you get yourself convinced that your going to have this item and then its taken away at the last second...gutted!

I believe this is why many buyers don't bid anymore and would rather just buy it now.
