Hi, my house insurance needs to be with a specialist provider due to my partner having a criminal conviction. I've just found a really good quote but as standard the policy doesn't include legal expenses cover and the broker doesn't sell this as an 'add on'. My house isnt at risk from flooding/subsidnce etc so is it really necessary to have? The broker informed me that out of the 1500 clients he has, in the past year only 2 people have needed this, so is it worth the risk of not having it?

The other premiums I've been quoted have been £140+ more per year, so obviously this cheaper option is better for my purse but if it would be very silly not to have it then I'd rather make sure I'm covered. Any advice appreciated!

  • wow cant beleive the insurer doesnt offer it as an addon....

long and short I would never advise not to have it, whilst claims on legal expences are seldom it would be sods law you truely need it when you dont have it. Just double check the policy your getting (want to get) doesnt include it as quite a few insurers do these days if not it is possible to get as a standalone policy a quick google search should offer some alternatives

Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify, do you mean I can search to purchase this alone by looking on google for a provider or do you mean to only buy a policy which includes this?
