Cuttings & propogation

I'm living in a rented house at the moment and don't expect to be in it next year, so I'd really like to take a few cuttings from some of the plants, to put in my own garden (hopefully) next year!

Top of the list is a fabulous honeysuckle, with yellow and white flowers and smells amazing. Also I'd like to take cuttings from the geraniums and fuchsia! There is also a beautiful yellow rose, but is that more complicated?

I've never done this before, so I've done some research, but I still have a few questions and so I'm after a bit of advice, fingers crossed someone can help! If any one could advise on what methods is best? Will the cuttings be ok outside over the winter? Or do they need a green house/ window sill? How easy is it/ what level of success should I get? And finally when to do it?!

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you

Geraniums you could try propagation by division now.

Lonicera (honeysuckle) you could try a semi-ripe heel cuttings now, using hormone rooting power

Roses you can try as hard wood cuttings in the autumn, just putting 12cm stems in sand, using hormone rooting

For all, you'd need need to be using a basic cold-frame over the winter.

TBH, I think you're too late for fuchsia which are done as green-wood cuttings in early June

The RHS do a comprehensive book on plant propagation by Phillip Browse, perhaps obtainable via your library

Geraniums(pelargoniums) are done by 3" cuttings, cut at just below the leaf node and remove bottom leaves.Place round edge of pot with multipurpose compost, cover with pierced bag and put in light but not sunny place. Same for fuchsias. None of the cuttings are suitable for outside, a frost free greenhouse/conservatory is needed, except rose.

Have a look around the honeysuckle-you may well find a piece has rooted into the ground itself. Then you can just dig it up and take it with you ;)

Thanks for all the advice, it looks like I might need to invest in a green house!

With the honey suckle can I do runner style cuttings, like you do for a strawberry? or a spider plant?
