                    Hi,
I am fuming, a couple of weeks ago i had a call from the council to come round and check to see if i am recieving the correct amount of housing benefit, so round they came took away some information about my money etc, no problem.
Got a call today somebody else needs to come and see me because of my tax credits. Long story short they called them to check my claim, the tax credits said i was on manual payments because they had overpaid me (they never told me this, in fact they never gave me an explanation) they then went on to tell the guy at the council i had my working tax credits stopped from May to Aug this year because i was on income support!!!!!!! WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT i have been working for the last 14 months at the same company, they pay for my childcare!!!!!
So now the council are saying i owe them £800 in overpayment of housing benefit.
The lady at the tax credits office (when i called them fuming) asked why i had told them i was on income support if i wasn't.......AGGGGHHHH i didn't. I don't know where they got this information from but its no wonder they muck us about if they get this stuff from nowwhere
Rant over
Anyone that has a solution please help, im still trying to sort out the mess they made 3 years ago!

manual payments are only usually made when a problem with your claim (for whatever the actual reason is) is stopping your normal payments form reaching you.
in this case your problem seems to be based on the fact that you may have been claiming I.S (correctly noted on your claim at some point) but then started work. when the claim was updated this may have caused the problem and for some reason the computer did not take the update.
someone referred your details to head office and they manually calculated your correct award and started paying you this in giro form.
the problem is still occurring with your claim on the system so anyone who looks at it (at face value usually) they still see the old info and would pass this onto your local council. they base their figures on this info and low behold an overpayment from them springs up.
any decent advisor would be able to spot an problem claim (christ there should be enough notes about it) and explain to whoever is calling for information, you or your council, that the award we see is incorrect but you are actually getting paid for your current circumstances.fatblokexl:EasterBun:0

            Hi
Than for your response, i called them up again and spoke to someone with their head screwed on, they said they couldn't see anything on my file about me being on income support this tax year at all and doesnt know what the problem is. I am really confused and angry now.
