replacement guttering

HI,
Have been quoted £275 to replace just the guttering on my terraced house. No downpipes as the water feeds along the adjacent terrace to a communal downpipe.
Approx 7 meters of guttering to be replace by plastic.
Does this seem a fair price? works out about £45 per meter...
I'd appreciate any advice.

Not a bad quote at all really - which area is that for?

I'd read somewhere budget about £50 per meter for fascia's, sofs and guttering. Can't escape the feeling it's a bit steep.....
What's your reasoning based on?0 -
Have dealt with this on over 50 houses over the years. It depends entirely what colour/style etc and also who is doing it. Larger firms obviously more expensive. To be quite honest it seems reasonable based on what the workman has to do:
a) Buy the products (£70 ish estimate)
b) Time for initial survey
c) Work taking place
d) 10 year guarantee (and any associated remedials)
On that basis I don't think £245 is expensive at all. If it is a fitter & no guarantee etc you may get it even cheaper, circa £200. Obvious thing you'd lose is the 17.5% VAT.
Hope that helps.0 -
*Whilst most fascia companies and glaziers are very busy now during summer you'll be able to get this cheaper in October/November (very small saving on this size of job though).
This applies to the whole industry in my opinion - certainly worth bearing in mind if you ever want any larger works.

good advice - thank you.
The quote was from a roofer - back of an envelope type job. Got a guy coming to quote tomorrow from mybuilder - seems a bit more official reckons he can shave a bit off the £275 quote.
Thanks for your help mate - appreciate it0 -
why not save some money and buy the guttering yourself? usually builders add on a fee for buying it at their wholesalers.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

got a slightly cheaper quote, went back to the first guy, knocked a bit more off and said if he could match it, he could do it.
Job done for £200 today.
