    Please bear in mind that the Canon doesnt always accept non-canon cartridges and therefore can work out expensive.

    HP are good but the cartridges are more than the printer.

    Epson usually takes compatible cartriges and I've had my r320 for a while and its been okay/good and very cheap to run using the protech compatibles.

    I'm on the verge of buying a new one so opinions are interesting, however its really between the epson sx5series or the kodak, for both i've heard varying comments

    Epson sx still cheaper to run than Kodak latest sx epson take series version 8 chip set cartridges but not all compats have them yet.

    I have the Canon MP620 (earlier version of the 640) and it definitely takes compatible carts! I get my carts (the chipped ones) from 'InKredible'.
