I just called NatWest. I was told other than interest and late payment etc, there are NO charges/fee's for transferring to a current account. They also confirmed that the maximum I can transfer at any one time is £250 (50%).
Urgh i argued with Natwest till i was blue but they insisted that for my card i would still have to pay fees, presumably they used to charge for this when i got my card. :mad:
I even quoted the thread, and explainned as new customers get no fee, if they could ammend mine (not that i can see much of a reason to use it atm) but they still said no.
And then they also pointed out to me that i should be grateful that i have the card i have because i dont even meet the qualifying criteria. (Need to be earing 75K or the private CC and i am nowhere near that). So all in all, a lousy outcome.
But i am not saying that out of bitterness, but rather out of disappointment that for once i couldnt force a good/better deal out of a CC issuer. I am happy for the new customers, though just about everything else on that card is perfect for me. (Sngle digit APR, large limit, no fee, perks at no extra cost, UK only call centers).0 -
Hey Curt,
If my maths is correct (I worked it out I would pay back £527.50) like you say, why would I be paying back £600 'or so'? Either my maths is correct and I pay back 527.50 or my maths isn't correct?
Michael
Well presumably you won't transfer the balance till the statement arrives will you? Or will you do immdiately from the point of making the money transfer? (That wil get rid of a lot of interest for you).0 -
Okay guys. Just a little update for anybody that is interested;
I got accepted and recieved the Barclaycard today (£1,000 credit limit, £300 cash limit). I'm still waiting for my NatWest student card (luckily I know somebody who works in their customer service building at southend and he said he can "prioritise" the card being sent out).
Everything looks like it will fall into plan.0 -

You are not permitted to have a credit balance on the Account. If this occurs, we may return such balance to you, usually by making a payment to the account from which your Direct Debit is taken.
Suggest, transfer and they do it for you!!! WIn WIn..........................0
