Not sure about this holiday offer ?

Got a phone call this afternoon offering me a free weeks holiday in Europe or a luxury break in the UK. The only proviso was that I have (with my partner) to sit through a 2hrs talk at a local venue this Sunday. I was assured that it wasn't a time share scam.
They advised that they will be sending me details thru the post.
Has anyone got any ideas or views ? I'm afraid that I am an 'old' cynic and do not believe that anything is given away free nowadays; so at the moment, I'm not too sure whether I will going.
Any advise would be appreciated.:(

100% timeshare or the modern equivilent of points. There are some notorious scoundrels in the business. Your 'free' holiday will require you to pay an 'admin fee' per person and you will have to go through so many hoops to get it, I would give up know and not waste the 2, 3 4 or even more hours you will be in the room with the salesman. Honest companies tell you what they are selling and there is no such thing as a free lunch or a free holiday.....0

It won't be timeshare. There are laws to protect you if you enter into a timeshare agreement then change your mind.
This will be a Holiday Club, which is more or less the same, but with a different name.
Attend the presentation at your peril!0 -
Thanks all for the responses. I don't think that I will bother going now.
One good thing...they have sent me nice pen through the post.
Anyway thanks again.0 -
Hi all,
Further to my previous posting, I have got my written ivite through the post this morning. The offending company is called Ventura, who have an appalling reputation on the market for conning people. There is also a thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1716157 on MSE describing their scams.
I will now definitely not being going to their presentaion this weekend.0
